Amy is an enthusiastic, caring, family focused registered nurse that has valuable experience in both medical and surgical specialties. Amy has had the privilege of looking after paediatric patients from the age of 0 through 16 for the last 12 years. Specialising in premature neonatal patients, in the cardiac surgical unit of the neonatal intensive care at both the Mater Mothers Hospital and Gold Coast University Hospital since 2017.

Amy delivers care with empathy, patience and compassion for each patient and family she sees. Her extensive exposure has provided her with exemplary standards of clinical skills and a passion to provide valuable knowledge in the specialty of premature babies. Amy adds special attention to guiding families through the transition of parenting and supporting a unique bond with their child.

As a paediatric nurse, Amy can offer advance education, skill and support in a broad range of medical and surgical needs to the newborn, infant, toddler, adolescent and young adult. Focusing on well child care and the prevention or management of common paediatric acute illnesses and chronic conditions such as;

  • Transitioning to parenthood support
  • Assessing and assisting with milestones, including premature neonates
  • Settling and baby massage techniques
  • Supporting patients with acute or chronic care plans such as diabetes, asthma, epilepsy or behavioural disorders (in conjunction with paediatrician)
  • Allergies and sensitivities
  • Experience in neonates post-surgical care and congenital heart defects
  • Paediatric surgical and medical care in collaboration with specialists
  • Genetic and acquired disorders and management plans with specialist guidance
  • First aid education
  • Case management for complex needs patients

Striving to continue to deliver the best clinical practise and further her career with Queensland Children’s Clinic Amy is currently enhancing her skills through the completion of the Nurse Practitioner degree.  She looks forward to meeting each family and treating their child with the care that she would love to receive for anyone of her five children.
